Chandigarh: The Chandigarh police have filed a case against two individuals for fraud. Sandeep Sethi, Assistant Controller of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU), reported that Jaswinder Singh, stationed at ISBT, Sector 17, and Rahul, a security guard at ISBT, Sector 43, allegedly embezzled Rs 49.59 lakh by failing to deposit the amount in the government treasury. The case has been registered at the Sector 17 police station. TNS

Sec 40 resident duped of Rs 2.4l

Chandigarh: A Sector 40 resident fell prey to cyber fraud and ended up losing Rs 2.4 lakh. Complainant Gurwinder Singh reported that unknown person falsely claimed that his nephew residing in Canada had been arrested by the police in a case. The suspect demanded money from him for the bail. The complainant transferred the money only to realise later that he has been duped. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
