A local court has acquitted two persons Harbans Singh and Kaka Singh arrested in a snatching case after the prosecution failed to prove the charges.

The police had registered the case under Sections 379-A and 411 read with Section 34 of the IPC on the complaint of a woman, Varsha.

She said on July 12, 2022, she along with her friend went out for a stroll in Sector 29-B, Chandigarh. She said suddenly two boys came on foot and snatched her mobile phone.

The accused were arrested and the snatched mobile phone was recovered from them. After investigation a challan against the accused was presented in the court.

The court framed the charges against them. Swaraj Arora and Mohak Arora, advocates of the accused, argued that the accused had been falsely implicated in the case.

They argued that the complainant failed to identify the accused. Moreover, another eye witness also did not support the prosecution story. After hearing the arguments the court acquitted the accused.
