A one-and-a-half-year-old girl drowned in a pit near a brick-kiln at Ramgarh road, Mubarikpur, on Thursday. The incident took place around 3 pm.

The victim, identified as Sunaina, is the daughter of Kundandeen, a native of Nalanda. According to the information, the girl was playing near her shanty while her mother was washing the utensils. When her mother went inside, leaving the toddler unattended, she fell into the pit.

Unable to find her, the girl's mother raised alarm. Neighbours helped her look for her daughter, who was found in the pit. The girl was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
