The Tribune MUN begins today in Chandigarh
Nearly 200 students will participate in the two-day The Tribune Model United Nation (MUN)-2024 aiming for the motto ‘Bridging borders, Building futures’, sponsored by Chitkara University and powered by Grid Advertising at The Tribune School, Sector 29, from November 16.
The MUN-2024 will be a unique platform for the school students to cultivate leadership, brain storming and a nuanced understanding of international relations. The prestigious MNU conference will not just a simulation, it will be a thrilling opportunity to hone public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking skills for the young minds.
The event will be inaugurated by Justice Aman Chaudhary on November 16 at The Tribune School. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will discuss agendas, including addressing the ongoing conflict in Yemen and its humanitarian impact in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and addressing the question of equitable representation and increase in the membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The Human Rights Council (HRC) will hold discussions on protecting freedom of speech and expression by addressing issues related to media censorship and digital rights, while the UNSC will hold deliberation on the dispute in the South China Sea and its implications. The Lok Sabha committee will hold discussions on The Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 and its implications on the existing law.
Students representing committee of the International Press, Journalism and Photography will be the highlight of the event. The Tribune’s MUN will also offer attractive awards and cash prizes to recognise outstanding performance. Students of as many as 20 top schools from the tricity will participate in this event.
