A delegation of the Joint Teachers Association (JTA) met the UT Chandigarh Administrator and Governor, Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria today to raise questions over administrative delay in solving problems of teachers.

Convener of the JTA Ramesh Chand Sharma, chairman Ranbir Jhorar, legal adviser Arvind Rana and general secretary Ajay Sharma interacted with the Governor and raised pending issues of teachers, which included the Seventh Central Pay Commission, DA arrears and 50 per cent DA to Samagra Shiksha Teachers, pending DA to teachers on deputation, promotion to NTT, JBT, TGT, lecturers and headmaster/headmistress, among other demands.

The JTA requested the Administrator to release the 7th Central Pay Commission to 160 newly appointed teachers under Samagra Shiksha scheme and two years’ DA arrears to 1,000 teachers from the state budget. They were also demanding an immediate and favourable conclusion of the charge-sheet against 11 school heads, so that they could effectively participate in the promotion process.
