Taekwondo player brutally attacked in Panchkula

The police have booked nine persons for brutally attacking a taekwondo player with sharp weapons and sticks near Amartex Chowk here late last night.
The suspects have been identified as Golu, Vineet, Vikas, Rustam, Manjesh, Sahil, Ashu, Lakshman and Mony.
In his statement to the police, the victim, Raj of Majri Chowk near Sector 2, said he, along with his friend Vikas, a resident of Budhanpur, had gone to meet other friends Rohan and Abhishek, both residents of Abhaypur. He said his friends were going to drop him at 8.30 pm when there saw 10 to 15 boys at Abhaypur park. He alleged that one of the boys challenged them and then they all started running after them.
The complainant said, “We all started running towards Amartex Chowk. Five to six boys overpowered me and started beating me up while other boys started chasing my friends.”
He added that he was stabbed with a knife and hit on a leg. He accused Manjesh of stabbing him with a knife on the back of his head.
The complainant was taken him to the Civil Hospital from where he was referred to the PGI in Chandigarh.
A case was registered under Sections 148, 149, 324 and 506 of the IPC at the Sector 20 police station. The police had not made any arrests till the filing of this report.
