Jasvinder Rana of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), who won the post of joint secretary of the Panjab University Campus Student Council on Thursday, and Prince Chaudhary, the presidential candidate of the Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) who lost to independent candidate Anurag Dalal, carried out foot marches on the university campus today.

Rana started his foot march from Arts Block and proceeded towards the Department of Laws, the UILS, science departments, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bio-Medical Sciences before concluding it at Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital. Amongst seven candidates in fray for the post of joint secretary, Rana had benefitted majorly from the UILS (530 votes) and Department of Laws (342 votes). From the dental department as well, Rana had bagged highest number of votes in comparison to other candidates – 101.

Chaudhary, who walked barefoot to convey ‘thank you’ to students of the university, started his march from the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS). The march passed through the Department of Laws and Arts Blocks before ending at the Student Centre. The highest number of votes from the UILS, which has a strength of 1,950 students, were polled in favour of Chaudhary – 556. Anurag got 426 votes from the department.
