Sitharaman to be in city today

Senior BJP leader and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will chair a meeting of the state executive of the BJP on Sunday. Though the meeting will start in the morning, she is expected to reach the venue in the afternoon.

Sources said the reason for the BJP’s loss in the Chandigarh Lok Sabha election would be also be discussed at length and a report sent to the party high command.

The sources said the role of a few party leaders, who had allegedly worked against party candidate Sanjay Tandon in the election, would also be deliberated upon.

Sitharaman would also meet members of the business community to understand their issues and concerns.

Jatinder Pal Malhotra, president of the city BJP, in a press statement issued today, said he would take issues related to the city during the meeting.
