A delegation of the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) today called on Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav and demanded shifting of the mega concerts of singers Daljit Dosanjh and AP Dhillon on December 14 and 21, respectively, from the Sector 34 exhibition ground to rally ground in Sector 25, Chandigarh.

‘inconvenience to residents, commuters’

A delegation of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal that met the DC stated that the recent show of Punjabi singer Karan Aujla had caused business losses to traders of Sector 34 and other adjoining markets, apart from inconvenience to people due to traffic jams. Besides shops, there are offices, hospitals and educational institutions in Sector 34, it added.

The delegation comprising CBM president Charanjiv Singh, Parshotam Mahajan, Anil Vohra, Subash Narang and Sanjeev Chadha stated that the recent show of singer Karan Ahujla had caused business losses to traders of Sector 34 and other adjoining markets, apart from inconvenience to people because of traffic jams. Apart from shops, there are offices, hospitals and educational institutions in Sector 34, they added.

As the Sector 34 exhibition ground is not capable of handling such big concerts, so these types of shows should not be given permission in the sector as it is located in a congested area of the city. Such shows should be allowed in rally ground, Sector 25, or some auditorium or any other suitable place.

Regarding two shows for which permission has already been given, he would talk to the higher authorities and would try to shift it to some alternative bigger place, Charanjit added.
