Seminar on role of Punjab in nation building
A seminar with focus on Punjab’s significant role in nation-building and its contributions to the Indian Army was conducted at Chandimandir Military Station. The aim was to address the contemporary challenges such as drug abuse, socio-economic development and talent migration in Punjab.
The seminar brought together the panelists and subject experts from the civil administration, the Armed Forces, Narcotics Control Bureau and other institutions, who delved upon Punjab’s deep-rooted link to national security, rich history, cultural heritage and its journey from historical glories to the present challenges.
Discussions emphasised the economic distress afflicting the state, socio-economic impact of substance abuse, including its effects on national security, and the role of society in curbing this menace. The panel also discussed the impact of these challenges on recruitment in Indian Army.
Actionable strategies for economic resurgence, societal reform, retention of talent pool, enhancing recruitment, substance abuse mitigation measures were proposed by economists, NGOs and veterans. Measures for sustainable development and skill-based initiatives to prepare the youth for global competitiveness were also proposed.
