Chandigarh: Inspector Sarita Roy, Sector 17 SHO, along with Satish, posted at the station as ‘munshi’, was transferred to the Police Lines, Sector 26, on Tuesday. Sources said the the sudden transfer stemmed from an immigration fraud complaint that was under investigation at the station.

Case against PGI protesters

Chandigarh: The UT police have registered a case on a complaint filed by Deep, Chief Security Officer, PGI, against unidentified persons who had staged a protest near Kairon block from October 30 to November 4. A case under Section 4 (penalty for illegal strikes) of the Essential Services Maintenance Act has been registered at the Sector 11 police station.

Session on data visualisation

Chandigarh: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, organised a special lecture on “India Knowledge System: Concept Significance in the Contemporary Era” and “Advanced Data Visualisation through Tableau Desktop” on Tuesday. Shivangi Kaushik, Assistant Professor at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi, delivered the lecture, which was attended by faculty members, research scholars and students of BLibISc and MLibISc. She talked about the Indian knowledge system and expanding world economy.

Haryana Divas observed

Chandigarh: DAV College, Sector 10, here organised ‘Haryana Divas’ on Tuesday. Haryana politician and social worker Gulab Singh Saini, brother of Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, was the chief guest and Anil Kadian, Joint Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Government Of Haryana, attended the event as the guest of honour. The event organised by the Deputy Dean Students’ Welfare witnessed cultural performances by college students.

Chandigarh Science Congress

Chandigarh: The Panjab University is all set to host the 17th Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON-2024) at the PU Law Auditorium from November 6 to 8. The three-day national conference is being organised on the theme of “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat” and is sponsored by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan and the Ministry of Human Resource Development. CHASCON is being organised by PU in collaboration with Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster.
