School notes: Workshop organised
The tribune School, Chandigarh
The school organised a workshop aimed at helping teachers identify and manage emotional distress among children. The session was conducted by Commander Jagmohan S Bhogal (retd), a veteran Indian naval officer. During the workshop, he shared impactful insights on how to recognise distress signals and implement effective intervention techniques to create a supportive and compassionate school environment.
St Soldier’s School, Mohali
Students of the school organised science exhibitions in their classrooms. The exhibits gave students the thrill of observing constellations and the movement of stars at night. The students were enthralled by the overall experience and could not seem to get enough of it.
Sacred Heart, Chandigarh
The school celebrated the annual function of primary classes. The events showcased talent, creativity, and hard work of the students, along with the school’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. Maneesh Chaudhry, IG, CID-cum-Director-Fire and Emergency Services, Haryana, Rt Rev Ignatius Mascarenhas Bishop, Simla Chandigarh Diocese, attended the event. The musical drama wove a story of love, care and attention that was the need of the hour in the lives of young children.
Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh
The junior wing of the school organised a special assembly on Gurpurab under the aegis of Sanskara — The Human Excellence Cell. The assembly featured a soulful renditions of shabads sung by young students, followed by an engaging speech, reinforcing Guru Nanak Dev’s messages of inclusivity and harmony to inspire students to embody humility, selflessness and respect for all humanity. Meanwhile, Anju Mohan, librarian of the senior wing of the school, was conferred with ‘The Best School Librarian Award’ by the Association for Senior Library And Information Professionals (ASLIP) Executive Committee. The ASLIP conducted a conclave at IMtech, Chandigarh. Mohan was conferred with the award for her meritorious work in the field of library science.
Shishu Niketan, Chandigarh
The school celebrated its annual sports week for the tiny tots, bringing excitement and energy to the playground. The event featured a variety of fun races and activities such as a 50-m race, zig-zag run, obstacle course and others. Teachers guided the children, creating an encouraging atmosphere that motivated each child to participate with confidence.
Stepping Stones, Chandigarh
Marking the beginning of a safer educational experience for students, on the special occasion of Children’s Day, Omacle, a tech company, entered into a partnership with the school. The company would be providing ‘Guardian ID Cards’, a smart, RFID-enabled identification card, designed specifically for school students. The card was completely battery-free, made from child-safe materials, and would allow parents and school authorities to monitor students’ movement, providing instant updates when students enter the school and attend their classes.
Ankur School, Chandigarh
The school bagged success at the ‘Times of Yore Art Competition’ held at Government Museum, Sector 10. The event, judged by the eminent sculptor, Vishal Bhatnagar, witnessed the school claiming all first three prizes. As many as 13 art works from the school were selected.
Gillco School, Mohali
An informative and interactive session on traffic rules, road safety, and responsible driving was conducted for the students of the school by Janak Raj, Assistant Sub-Inspector from the Traffic Education Cell, Mohali. The session aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility among students regarding road safety, promoting awareness about the importance of following traffic rules and ensuring personal safety.
