School notes: TECHNOVATION-2024 orgnised
Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh
The school hosted its first science and robotics innovation challenge, TECHNOVATION-2024. Chitkara International School, Chandigarh, won the Design X Challenge, while Bhavan Vidyalaya and St Soldiers School, Sector 16, Panchkula, stood second and third, respectively. In the Bot Blitz Challenge, Manav Rachna International School, Mohali, bagged the top spot. It was followed by Manav Mangal Smart School, Sector 64, Mohali, in the second place and Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, Chandigarh, in the third place. St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, Chandigarh, clinched the Ad Genius Award. Vivek High School, Mohali, won the Pitch Prodigy Award. St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, Chandigarh, bagged the Tech Titans’ Award.
Delhi Public School, Mohali
A special assembly was organised ahead of Diwali to celebrate the festive spirit and spreading joy among students and staff. Students showcased their talent through various performances, including soulful musical presentations, dazzling dance extravaganzas, mesmerizing poems and thought-provoking speeches. Following the assembly, the students enjoyed mouth-watering Diwali delicacies at lunch.
Infant Jesus Convent School, Mohali
The Eco Club and Cleanliness Club organised an anti-cracker rally and cleanliness drive in school. Students advocated for environment-friendly celebrations and a pollution-free and safe Diwali with creative posters and slogans. Following the rally, the school also organised a cleanliness drive around the school premises and nearby community areas.
Chitkara International School, Sector 25, Chd
In collaboration with Cinevidya, the school hosted the 6th edition of CineMaestro Film Festival and Awards, a platform designed to nurture young filmmakers. Actor Aparshakti Khurana graced the event. Cinevidya founder Amitabha Singh was also present. Dr Niyati Chitkara, Director, Schools, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh, and Panchkula, expressed pride in the festival's role in bridging the gap between school education and the film industry. The festival showcased a diverse range of student-created films.

The school’s primary wing conducted a special assembly for Diwali under the Human Excellence Cell. Schoolkids celebrated with the children of Government Model School, Sector 33, under the ‘Twinning Programme’.
Sacred Heart Convent School, Chd
The Interact Club spread awareness on the need for a ‘Green Diwali’ through a skit, which highlighted concerns like child labour, ignorance, environmental hazards and burn injuries. Members of the club along with senior rotarians joined hands to participate in a rally at Sukhna Lake to raise awareness regarding the eradication of polio.
Vivek High School, Chandigarh
A play depicting the iconic 1955 Bollywood movie ‘Shree 420’ captivated the audience. The play was held as part of the 40th Founders Day celebrations of the school. The musical was directed by Nisha Luthra, founder and director of the Narrators Performing Arts Society. An adaptation based on the renowned film director late Raj Kapoor’s film, ‘Shree 420’, the play brought to life the memorable characters and storyline of the classic film, which revolves around themes of love, moral dilemmas, and societal corruption. The narrator’s team and the school’s young acting maestros impressed the audience. School Director Vikramjit Mamik and Principal Renu Puri, appreciated the performances.
Govt Model School, Sector 21, Chd
To mark Diwali celebrations, a creative fest was organised to foster creativity, innovation and hands-on learning. The fest featured several creative and educational stalls, all of which were organsed and managed by students. The key highlights included the RAA Exhibition, ‘Displaying innovative student projects and creative learning activities’. Reading Mela also promoted reading habits and showcased a variety of books to spark student’s interest in literature.
Gurukul Global School, Chd
Gurukul Global School organised its Senior Wing’s annual presentation, at the Inderdhanush Auditorium, Sector 5, Panchkula. This year’s theme, ‘Saarthi - We All Need One’, resonated deeply with the attendees, offering a poignant reminder of the importance of guidance and support in our lives. The presentation showcased students’ talent and featuring captivating performances in theatre, dance, and music, portraying how every element of the society has such huge expectations from a child. It also raised a very pertinent question as to why only the young ones are always questioned for their shortcomings when parents, teachers and society are all equally instrumental in shaping and nurturing their personalities. This self-curated act successfully delivered and exposed the turmoils going on in a child’s mind.
Shishu Niketan, Sector 22-D, Chd
A capacity-building programme, organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for yoga teachers, was recently held at the school. The programme was aimed at elevating instructional standards and promote yoga as an essential skill subject in schools. Yoga teachers from various schools participated in interactive sessions and hands-on activities.
