Smart Wonders School, Mohali, celebrated Grandparents’ Day ‘Neev’ with enthusiasm and warmth. The celebration was marked by various events and activities, showcasing the students’ affection and gratitude towards their grandparents. The programme began with a lamp lighting followed by a cultural programme featuring various performances by the students of Foundation Years . Among the various performances, students presented a short skit to express their love and appreciation. The celebration concluded with refreshments and a photo session, where students and grandparents shared moments of joy and love.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public School

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School, Sector 26, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Chandigarh Breast Cancer Trust organised a vaccination camp to prevent the young girls from cervical cancer. As many as 46 girls were inoculated under the guidance of Dr Gaurav Prakash, Professor of Oncology, PGI, Chandigarh. Dr Gaurav shared the information of HPV virus with the parents and made them aware about the main cause of cervical cancer.

AKSIPS 41 SMART SCHOOL

On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the school welcomed the idol of Lord Ganesha on the school premises with aarti. The prasad of ladoos was distributed. Director Jasdeep Kalra and Principal Ritu Bali extended their greetings on the occasion saying that this festival brings joy and happiness and inspires us to remain humble in life.

Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh

Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh, celebrated National Nutrition Week with a range of interactive activities aimed at encouraging healthy eating habits among students from classes I to IX. Students in classes I and II participated in engaging activities such as ‘Build Your Healthy Plate’ and ‘Uncovering Nutrition Facts’ where they explored the principles of balanced meals and developed skills in reading food labels. Meanwhile, classes III and IV had a delightful time with ‘Rainbow Salad Creation’, mixing fresh fruits and vegetables to craft visually appealing and nutritious salads. For classes VII to IX, students took part in ‘Healthy Salad Making’, creating wholesome salads, and explored portion control through the ‘Nutrition Fractions’ activity. These hands-on experiences enriched their knowledge of nutrition and motivated them to make more informed food choices.

Smart India Hackathon–2024

Chandigarh: The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University in collaboration with PU-IIC, Design Innovation Centre (DIC) and Panjab University Incubation Centre (PUIC), organised Internal Smart India Hackathon–2024, symbolising the university's commitment to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship among its students. Prof Sanjeev Puri, Director UIET, Panjab University, motivated and lauded the students' passion and ingenuity, emphasising the pivotal role of problem-solving in driving societal change. A total of 64 teams comprising 384 students competed on 82 different themes as per the problem statements defined by MoE’s Innovation Cell/AICTE. The teams were evaluated by seven panels composed of experts from Panjab University and CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh.

Orientation programme held

The Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh, inaugurated the new academic year with an orientation programme on Monday at the Seminar Hall, Panjab University, Chandigarh. New students were welcomed under the patronage of V-C Renu Vig. The chief guest, Prof Arun K. Aggarwal, Head, Department of Community Medicine, School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh, delivered the inaugural address, emphasising on the scope of public health and highlighting the importance of developing excellence in the niche of interest to capture experience and turn garbage to gold.

principals’ assn meet at DBU

Desh Bhagat University (DBU), Mandi Gobindgarh, hosted the

All-India Principals’ Association (AIPA) meet to discuss, collaborate and strategise on the future of education in the country. Dr Harsh Sadawarti, vice-president, DBU, inaugurated the meet. The conference featured a diverse range of sessions and workshops designed to address the evolving challenges and opportunities facing educational institutions today. There were keynote addresses from prominent figures in education, panel discussions on key issues such as digital transformation, inclusivity, and pedagogy, and interactive workshops aimed at fostering innovative practices in school management.
