Mohali: The police arrested a salon owner, Pawan Kumar Sharma, on charges of attempt to rape and assault on a 28-year-old employee on June 26. On a complaint of the victim, a case was registered against the suspect under Sections 354, 354-B, 376, 511 and 506 of the IPC at the Mataur police station. He has been remanded in two-day police custody. Investigating officer Baljeet Kaur said the incident occurred two-three days ago and the suspect, a resident of Sector 70, had been arrested. TNS

Mohali: An all-round performance by Mayank Gupta (112 runs and three wickets) helped Ropar District Cricket Association beat YMCA Parnami Cricket Academy by a narrow margin of one run in the 1st Dinesh Verma Memorial U-19 Tournament. Chandigarh: A tributary match was played in the memory of former Indian sprinter Milkha Singh between Livewire Coaching Centre (LWCC) and Godrej Cricket Club on Sunday. Tennis fitness workshop

Mohali: Roots Tennis Academy in collaboration with strength, sports conditioning coach Vijay Yashpaull, who trained the likes of former top 100 ATP Yuki Bhambri, Federation Cup players Prerna Bhambri, Rishika Sunkara, Udit Gogoi, Riya Sachdeva among others, will be conducting a high performance tennis fitness workshop for players of the tricity.
