RT-PCR test compulsory for staff on poll duty

Taking precautionary measures Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer has ordered that the RT-PCR test is mandatory for the staff deputed on poll duty. Those found positive will be exempted from duty and the test would be conducted on the spot by teams of the Health Department at the DC office.
Poonamdeep Kaur, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer, said it was observed that in some cases employees deployed on poll duty were showing their RT-PCR test report as positive to take exemption for duty. Now the DC’s office would conduct the RT-PCR test of the polling staff under supervision of the Civil Surgeon, Fatehgarh Sahib, she added. “Only positive RT-PCR test will be the basis for exemption from election duty,” she said. “Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) has been given overall charge in this regard,” she added.
“It will be ensured that all the staff on poll duty is fully vaccinated. Besides, a booster dose will also be given to staff,” she said. All preparations for the smooth conduct of polls in a free and fair manner were complete, she added.
