Roundglass cup: Faizullah Chak bag U-16 title
The Roundglass Foundation Football Cup 2024 (RFFC) concluded at the GMADA Complex, Sector 78, today. In the boys’ U-16 final, Faizullah Chak village, Gurdaspur district, won the title by defeating Kamalpura 3-0, while in the girls’ U-16 event Chak Mafi village (Ludhiana) bagged the first position by logging a solitary goal win over Suchetgarh.
Prem and Gaganjot Kaur bagged the player of the match award in the boys and girls categories, respectively.
Harjot Singh Bains, Minister of Technical Education &Industrial Training, Higher Education, School Education, and Information & Public Relations, Government of Punjab, awarded the winners. “The Roundglass Foundation Football Cup is a great initiative to improve our children’s physical and mental wellbeing through team sports like football,” said Bains.
Sunny Gurpreet Singh, Founder, Roundglass, added, “Roundglass Foundation is investing in uplifting the wellbeing of Punjab’s children and youth by giving them equal opportunities to play. We promote team sports like football, as they cultivate teamwork while nurturing individual talent. Currently, over 12,000 children train daily at our 400 Sports Centres across Punjab, guided by certified coaches.”
The tournament began on November 14, at Faizullah Chak village in Gurdaspur, was played across 12 districts in Punjab and saw participation from 4,000 children and 300 teams, including 50 teams of girls.
The RFFC was organised in partnership with the Kavita and Vinod Khanna Foundation. The foundation has set up 400 Sports Centres in 400 villages in Punjab, which are engaging 12,000 children in the age group of 5 to 16 years, including girls, to learn and play team sports like football.
