Roads in bad shape at Kharar Shivalik City

Residents of Shivalik City, Sector 127, Kharar, complained they were facing inconvenience due to the bad condition of roads in the area. They claimed there were 1 ft deep craters on the road. They said commuting on the road had become highly risky and inconvenient due to potholes that were full of slush and stagnant water. They said people’s vehicles were getting damaged and two-wheeler riders usually fell off while trying to cross the rough patches at night.

“The the work of laying sewage lines was underway for almost three months, but the authorities concerned have abandoned the work midway now,” said Dr Amanpreet Kaur, a Shivalik Heights resident.

Another resident Barinder Singh said, “After the sewage lines were re-laid, commuting here in monsoons has become a nightmare. We approached Kharar Municipal Council, but our request to get the road repaired fell on deaf ears.”

Kharar residents and road users on the Kharar-Landran road complained that the lax traffic management system and waterlogged stretches of the road were causing hours of delay in the morning and evening rush hours.

Road users and residents rued that there was hardly any traffic police personnel or PCR vehicles to regulate traffic in the morning and evening.

“It is total chaos here. Roads remain watterlogged even on sunny days, leading to bumper to bumper traffic. During the rush hours, people drive on the wrong-side of the road to cut through the jam. As a result, both sides of the Kharar-Landran road are clogged,” said another resident.

Harpreet Kaur, a resident here said, “Shivalik City has nine entry gates and can be accessed from Landran Road, Nijjar chowk and Mansa Devi Mandir road. But not a single entry point is in normal condition. Due to rains the condition has worsened.Water logging is creating further problems for daily commuters. The authorities are paying dead attention to this serious matter.”
