The fifth placed Saurashtra stunned table toppers Chandigarh by logging an innings and 59-run win over Chandigarh during a Ranji Trophy match at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26.

Chandigarh scored 249 runs in reply to Saurashtra’s first innings total of 531/9. Facing follow-on, the hosts resumed from their overnight score of 184/7 on the last day, just to add 39 runs before packing their innings at 223. Ankit Kaushik (78 off 131 balls, with nine boundaries and two sixes) was the top scorer for the team, while Jagjit Sandhu contributed 50 of 20 balls, with five boundaries and four sixes. Jaydev Unadkat (3/44) and Dhamender Jadeja (3/42) and Yuvraj Dodhiya (3/87) shared wickets for the bowling side.

Karnataka defeated Chandigarh by 127 runs in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy, at Mahajan Cricket Ground, IT Park. Chasing Karnataka’s first innings total of 429, the local side were bundled out at 271. In their second innings, the visitors posted 219/6 to set a 378-run target for the hosts. However, the hosts were restricted at 250. Chandigarh lads, despite a solid start, fumbled in the lateral stage to post 271 against Karnataka’s 429. Prakar Chaturvedi (220 off 280 balls, with 15 boundaries and nine sixes) was the top scorer for the side. Harshil Dharmani (67 off 94 balls) and Dhruv Prabhakar (56 off 100 balls, with seven boundaries and one six) were other contributors.

Ivraj Ranauta (4/103) took four wickets for the bowling side, while Harshit (3/101) picked three. In their second innings, Karnataka declared at 219/6 with the help of skipper Aneeshwar Gautam (100 off 139 balls).

Local lads lose to Baroda

Baroda defeated Chandigarh by eight wickets in the Cooch Behar Trophy. Batting first, the hosts Baroda posted 421/9 and Chandigarh boys stumbled at 183. Asked to follow-on, the Chandigarh batters posted 285. In reply, the hosts achieved the target in 11 overs.
