The UT Administration has sought cooperation from the public in eliminating the menace of beggary from the city.

A meeting under the chairmanship of Anuradha S Chagti, Secretary, Social Welfare, was held today to discuss key issues related to beggary in the city.

Chagti urged all citizens to play an active role in ending the menace. “By not giving alms to beggars, we not only discourage this practice but also disrupt the human trafficking rackets that exploit vulnerable individuals for begging,” she said. Chagti also directed the departments concerned to ensure effective implementation of awareness drives, rescue drives, shelter facilities and rehabilitation initiatives.
