Prof, daughters cremated
In a heart wrenching moment, the bodies of two minor girls and their father, who were charred to death after their car caught fire, were cremated by their family at the Sector 25 cremation ground.
Three members of a family were killed after the car they were travelling in caught fire due to sparking at Shahabad last night. The deceased were Prof Sandeep Naseer and his minor daughters Prapti and Amanat, who were students of Sacred Heart School, Sector 26. The injured, Lakshmi, Aarti and Sudesh from Sonepat, were referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, with burns. Sandeep was a professor at the Chandigarh University.
Sandeep’s brother lit the pyres. The condition of Sandeep’s wife Lakshmi is said to be critical and is under observation at the PGIMER.
Sources said the victims were on their way from Sonepat to Chandigarh when a fire broke out in the car near Mohri in Shahabad. Sandeep was travelling with his wife Lakshmi, daughters Pari and Amanat, brother Sushil, his wife Aarti and son Yash, and his mother Sudesh.
