After a gap of 15 years, the Chandigarh Golf Club (CGC) is hosting the Indian Golf Union (IGU) 123rd Amateur Golf Championship of India. On the opening day, the practice round was organised at the CGC greens, where the participants made themselves familiar with the greens.

The event will be played under the IGU banner with 32 players making the final cut. The first two days will be played on stroke format. The pre-quarterfinals and quarterfinals will be played under match-play format.

While the semifinals will be played under the 18-hole stroke play, the final will be a 36-hole affair. In case of a draw in the final tie, the winner will be decided through a play-off. The top 60 golfers in the IGU list are playing in the event. The hosts club got 15 slots. Meanwhile, a total 110 golfers will be vying to grab the top position in the amateur rankings.
