Panchkula celebrates Children’s Day, DC honours 485 students

840 pupils participated in 46 events organised over 10 days

As many as 456 winners of district-level competitions and 29 of mandal-level competitions were honoured with trophies and certificates in a prize distribution ceremony attended by Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Monika Gupta today. The ceremony was organised by the District Child Welfare Council, Panchkula, at the Atma Auditorium of Jainendra Gurukul in Sector 1.

The DC said from October 14 to 23, 46 competitions were organised for students, divided into four groups—the first group up to Class V, the second group from Class VI to VIII, the third from Class IX to X, and the fourth group from Class XI to XII. The competitions included rangoli-making, group dance, solo dance, clay modelling, poster-making, card-making, singing, group singing, and one-act play/theatre play. A total of 840 children from 31 government and non-government schools participated in these competitions. Out of these 46 competitions, a total of 456 children from 27 government and non-government schools emerged victorious.

Addressing the audience at the event, DC Gupta said, “Children are the invaluable heritage of the nation. There is a need to pay more attention to the health, education, and nutrition of the future captain generation of the country. It is the duty of all parents to raise children with love and affection. We also have to ensure that children are not exploited in any way.”

63 winners from 1 school

Sixty-three students of Swami Vivekananda Millennium School HMT made their school proud by winning awards during the events, followed by 54 students of Sutlej Public School, Sector 4, Panchkula, and 50 students of Doon Public School, Panchkula. As many as 45 students of Blue Bird High School, Sector 16, Panchkula; 43 of Amravati Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School, Pinjore; and 43 of DAV Senior Secondary, Surajpur, were also declared winners in various competitions.

Thirty students of Sakai World School in Sector 21, Panchkula; 25 of Shri Jainendra Gurukul Senior Secondary, Sector 1, Panchkula; 18 of PM Shri GG Senior Secondary, Sector 15, Panchkula; 15 of Satluj Public School, Sector 2, Panchkula; 14 students of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, Panchkula; 11 students of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 15, Panchkula; and 10 students of Sarthak Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 12A, Panchkula, were adjudged winners.

Apart from the children, the DC also honoured Ashmeena, Monila, Gurpreet, Kusum, Ghanshyam, Charu, Navtindra, Saloni, Deepa, Savita, and Pooja, who were part of the jury of the competitions, with trophies.
