A Panchkula resident has been duped of Rs 6.69 lakh in the name of purchasing Maruti sales vendor codes. Rajesh Dalal (46), a resident of Sector 23, said he had received a call in July from a man claiming to be vice-president of Maruti’s sales team in Gurugram. He offered Dalal two vendor codes at a cost of Rs 3 lakh each, besides asking Rs 25,000 for registration.

“I transferred Rs 6.69 lakh in bank accounts given by the caller with the help of my relatives and friends, but the man later stopped taking my calls,” Dalal added.

He later went to the Maruti office in Gurugram, but did not find the caller. A case has been registered at the Cyber Crime police station in Panchkula.
