Panchkula DC asks agencies to expedite paddy lifting

Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg said 2,120 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy arrived in three grain markets of Panchkula district on Wednesday.

While 2,120 MT of paddy has been purchased by various agencies, 3,610 MT of paddy was lifted from all grain markets.

While HAFED lifted 500 MT of paddy from Panchkula, 1,200 MT from Barwala grain market, 850 MT from Raipur Rani, Haryana Warehouse lifted 91 MT from the Panchkula grain market and 969 MT from the Barwala grain market, he said.

Yash Garg said 70,895 MT of paddy had arrived in all grain markets of the district so far. Out of this, 7,050 MT of paddy arrived in the Panchkula grain market, 38,145 MT in the Barwala grain market and 25,700 MT in the Raipur Rani grain market.

He said HAFED purchased 6,550 MT of paddy from the Panchkula grain market, 24,620 MT from the Barwala grain market and 25,700 MT from the Raipur Rani grain market, while Haryana Warehouse purchased 500 MT from the Panchkula grain market and 13,525 MT from the Barwala grain market.

He said so far 13,375 farmers from the district have reached the grain markets with their paddy. The Deputy Commissioner directed the agencies to speed up paddy lifting. He also appealed to farmers not to burn crop residue and asked them to adopt new methods to manage it.
