Out of jail, youth stabbed to death
A 25-year-old man, who was recently released from jail, was stabbed to death in Khuda Jassu on Friday night by a group, allegedly because of an old rivalry.
The victim, identified as Rishab, a resident of Nayagaon, was attacked by a group with a knife. Sources said he was stabbed six times.
According to the police, Rishab had come to Khuda Jassu with two friends for some work when the assailants, including three persons from Jhujhar Nagar, Mohali, attacked him. One of his friends escaped, while the other reportedly kept standing at the scene.
Investigations revealed that Rishab was involved in a murder case filed at the Nayagaon police station a few years ago. A police officer said the attack appeared to be linked to gang rivalry, as associates of the youth, Rishab was accused of killing, harboured a grudge.
The sources said Rishab was getting life threats after being released from jail.
A murder case has been registered at the Sarangpur police station and an investigation is underway. Three suspects, all with a criminal past, have been identified. They are at large.
The victim’s autopsy was conducted today and the body handed over to his family.
