Our culture, heritage available in books: Haryana CM Saini

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini while participating in the third book fair in Panchkula today remotely inaugurated Sardar Patel libraries in Kurukshetra, Karnal and Jhajjar districts.

He released many books at the book fair organised at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector 5.

Speaking on the occasion, Saini said, “The more knowledge we have the smaller this world will become for us. The ideas about our culture and heritage are available in books. Therefore this book fair has been organised to add to our knowledge.”

Saini also inaugurated Sardar Patel libraries built at Arunay village in Kurukshetra district, Bara village of Karnal and Madana village of Jhajjar.

He said people will be able to find books of their interest at the fair. “Thousands of books in different languages are available at the fair. These books will give a dose of knowledge to everyone,” he said.

The Chief Minister said Goddess Saraswati — the goddess of knowledge — is worshipped in schools and libraries. “In schools, one gains in-depth knowledge by sitting at the feet of the guru and by way of silent study in libraries. The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has opened over 25 libraries across the state in past three years,” he said.

Additional Chief Secretary AK Singh, Chairman of Electricity Corporation, PK Das, Managing Director Dr Saket Kumar, Kalka MLA Shakti Rani Sharma, BJP district president Deepak Sharma and former Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta were among those present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said the BJP government had promised to give two lakh jobs to youths of the state. “Libraries are needed for preparation of competitive examinations. District-level libraries have been set up at the district headquarters. Now digital libraries are being upgraded in colleges and schools,” he said.

Saini said libraries will also be established in tier 2 and tier 3 villages for rural youths.

He said the state government was providing computerised system in school libraries. “Online system and e-books are being made available. Youths can get complete information about their subject online by entering relevant details,” he added.

Libraries built at cost of Rs 20 lakh each

CM Saini said the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam had built the Government Patel Pustakalaya (libraries) at Bada Gaon in Karnal, Arunay in Kurukshetra and Madana Kalan in Jhajjar at a cost of Rs 20 lakh each.

It has provided 1,026 books to Bada Gaon library, 2,311 books to Arunay library, 1,150 books to Madana library. Internet facility has also been provided in libraries.

Saini also released a book ‘Karmayogi Krishna’ based on the biography of Lord Krishna. The book has been written by Krishna Kumar Arya from the Information and Public Relations Department, Haryana.
