Chandigarh, January 31

City BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra has described the party’s victory in the mayoral polls as the victory of PM Narendra Modi’s guarantees and the party’s policies and ideology.

He also called it the beginning of the decline of INDIA bloc. Addressing a press conference here, he said, “This victory has exposed the alliance. It is the beginning of their downfall.”

He said the councillors wanted the development of the city, which was possible only if the BJP was at the helm. “They thus didn’t want AAP’s mayor. Besides, the Congress too didn’t want AAP to have its mayor. Its councillors thus polled invalid votes,” he alleged.

“Many councillors were detained and kept in an atmosphere of fear. Even their family members were not allowed to meet them. There was immense anger among them, which they expressed through voting. One councillor’s son was ill and was not even allowed to meet his mother,” Malhotra alleged.

He alleged it was a mismatched alliance, which had fallen apart. In response to a question, Malhotra claimed, “All allegations being made are false as everything was transparent. The entire process was being telecast live. How could anyone commit a mistake? The ruckus these people created in the House was shameful. They murdered the democracy as they did not believe in the electoral process. An attempt was made to snatch the ballot papers and even one was torn.”
