The Panchkula crime branch recovered a Canada-bound parcel containing 1.240 kg of opium.

Police officials said employees of DTDC Express, a courier delivery firm, informed them that they had received a parcel containing utensils and suspected that it contained narcotic drugs as well.

Cops reached their office and checked the contents of the parcel. It had six glasses, bowls, spoons, four thermos flasks and some clothes. On opening and inspecting the flasks, cops found opium hidden in them. The total weight of the recovered drug was 1.240 kg. A case has been registered against the addressee, Sukhpreet Singh of Caledon in Ontario, Canada, and sender Rahul of Sector 42-B, Chandigarh.
