Of 111 units, only 13 sold in Chandigarh Housing Board auction
The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has failed to attract buyers for its residential as well as commercial properties, as of 111 units put up for auction, only 13 could be sold.
The CHB had invited e-bids for the sale of its 24 residential units on a freehold basis and 87 commercial units on a leasehold basis. The bids were opened on Thursday. The board could sell only seven residential units and six commercial ones.
Two Middle Income Group (MIG) flats in Sector 47-D were sold for Rs 2.31 crore each, against a reserve price of Rs 1.78 crore. The board earned Rs 7.94 crore against the reserve price of Rs 6.76 crore.
It received Rs 1.36 crore against the reserve price of Rs 1.32 crore of the six commercial units mostly located in Mani Majra and Sector 40-A
The last auction, held in January this year, saw only nine out of 140 properties sold. The CHB had invited e-bids for the sale of 49 residential units on a freehold basis and 91 commercial ones on a leasehold basis and the board was able to sell only seven residential units and two commercial ones.
A two-bedroom flat in Sector 51-A was auctioned for Rs 1.13 crore against its reserve price of Rs 97 lakh. Another two-bedroom flat in the same sector went for Rs 1.10 crore against the reserve price of Rs 92 lakh. A two-bedroom flat in Sector 63 fetched Rs 88. Another similar unit in Sector 63 went for Rs 83 lakh. The seven freehold residential units raked in Rs 5.62 crore against the total reserve price of Rs 5.01 crore.
