Nayagaon residents march towards CM Mann house
Demanding that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should reject the Department of Forest and Wildlife Protection proposal to increase eco sensitive zone (ESZ) for the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary from 100 metre to 3 km, many residents of Nayagaon, led by senior BJP leader and chairman of Naygaon Ghar Bachao Manch Vineet Joshi today marched towards the CM’s residence, which is just 100 metre from Nayagaon.
The Naygaon Ghar Bachao Manch is a body of political, social and religious organisations of Nayagaon.
Joshi was accompanied by Punjab BJP state vice-president Subhash Sharma, Mohali district president Sanjiv Vashisht, Nayagaon Municipal Council president Gurdhyan Singh, BJP councillors Surinder Babbal, Parmod Kumar and Harnesh Nattu, Akali Dal councillor Gurbachan Singh and Congress councillor Sushil Sharma.
The protesters were stopped by the Punjab police, after which they staged a dharna on the road.
Addressing the gathering, Joshi said the proposal was in contradiction of the stand Punjab had for over 10 years
