Mohali Phase 5 firing, carjacking suspects in 3-day remand

A local court today sent two suspects arrested for the firing and carjacking incident in the Phase 5 market, to three-day police remand.
The suspects, Shahimajra residents Hardev Singh Cheema and Rohit Kumar, had allegedly fired four gunshots, injuring Harwinder Singh, a 37-year-old Ropar resident who was out with his family for dinner in an eatery. After firing at the victim, the duo had fled the spot in his car, which had Rs1.87 lakh, five gold bangles, a gold chain, a pair of gold earrings and two gold rings, said the police.
Four rounds were fired, which hit Harwinder in the stomach and leg. One of the suspects, Hardev, was also injured, but he managed to drive the car. The suspects had come on a scooty with a temporary registration number of Chandigarh.
Phase 1 SHO Shivdeep Singh Brar said, “Investigation is on to ascertain the sequence of events and any criminal record of the suspects.”
