Mohali Covid victims’ children to get free education till graduation

The district administration here has decided to provide free education till graduation to the children of earning members who lost their lives to Covid-19.

- So far, pension had been sanctioned for 35 dependent children and 23 widows in the district, said District Social Security Officer Ravinder Rahi.
- Benefits under Ashirwad Scheme, Smart Ration Card and Sarbatt Health Insurance Scheme will also be extended to the affected families.
The administration will also provide pension to the families who lost their bread winners to the infection and do not have any source of income.
This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan during a meeting with the officials of the Social Security Department at the District Administrative Complex here today.
Dayalan said such families would also be given the benefit of Ashirwad Scheme, Smart Ration Card and Sarbatt Health Insurance Scheme.
The DC directed the officials concerned to ensure that the benefits of this initiative of the government reach every eligible beneficiary so that they get some relief in the difficult situation created due to the pandemic.
District Social Security Officer Ravinder Singh Rahi said so far pension had been sanctioned for 35 dependent children and 23 widows in the district under the scheme.
Immediate benefits are being provided by the concerned departments under the remaining schemes, he added.
Rahi appealed to the people contact the departments concerned for availing the benefits under the initiative.
Additional DC Komal Mittal, Additional DC (Development) Himanshu Aggarwal, Mohali SDM Jagdeep Sehgal, Dera Bassi SDM Kuldeep Bawa, Kharar SDM Harbans Singh and officials of various departments were present in the meeting.
