A municipal corporation (MC) executive engineer (XEN) from the road division has been in a spot for allegedly granting unauthorised permission to a telecom firm to install three mobile towers on wheels at the venue for Diljit Dosanjh’s concert.

The XEN had provided approval in writing to the telecom company, instructing it to deposit ?20,000 plus GST into the MC bank account for the temporary towers meant to address network issues during the concert.

During a meeting, BJP councillor Saurabh Joshi flagged the matter, asserting that the XEN had no authority to issue such permissions. “Such approvals must come from either the booking branch or the Municipal Commissioner. Stringent action should be taken against the officer involved,” Joshi demanded.

Responding to the allegation, a senior officer assured a thorough investigation into the matter. “If found guilty, stringent action will be taken against the officer responsible,” he added.
