The UT Administration has also released an advisory to all residents in the city to wear face masks at crowded places. Only 29 per cent children have been vaccinated with the first dose of Corbevax in the age group of 12 to 14 and only 0.5 per cent have taken the second dose also. UT Adviser Dharampal expressed concern over the slow pace of vaccination among children. He said because of a good coverage of the vaccination prior to the third wave, the city was able to contain the requirement for hospitalisation and the number of casualties. Considering the increasing number of Covid cases in some states and UTs, and also in other countries, the Adviser asked the Health Department to adopt a pro-active approach for early vaccination of eligible children in the UT. He said efforts should be made to cover all eligible children within a period of 15 days and for this, camps should be organised in schools and the assistance of NGOs/religious organisations should be taken.
