Nawanshahr Man held on rape charge
Chandigarh: A 30-year-old man, who allegedly raped a woman on the pretext of providing her a job, has been arrested by the local police. The suspect, Balwinder Singh Maan, a resident of Nawanshahr, was nabbed from Sector 8, Chandigarh. The 23-year-old woman, a native of Jammu, alleged that she had come to the city in search of a job on July 29. On July 30, she came in contact with the suspect, who posed as a CBI officer and assured her of help in getting a job. The suspect took the victim to a hotel in Sector 22 and raped her. TNS

Patiala archer for world c’ship
Chandigarh: Patiala archer Sangampreet Singh Bisla has been selected to represent India at the World Archery Championship 2021, scheduled to be held in South Dakota, USA, from September 19-26. Selection trials were held at the SAI centre in Sonipat from August 2-3. Bisla is student of Khalsa College, Patiala, and trains at Punjabi University under coach Jiwanjot Singh Teja and assistant coach Gaurav Sharma. TNS
Three nabbed for attacking man, kin
Chandigarh: The UT police have arrested three persons for attacking a Ram Darbar resident and his family members. Complainant Puran alleged that Sushil, alias Meri, Ajay and other persons attacked him and his family members with sticks and rods at his house on July 31. The police have registered a case at the Sector 31 police station. Later, they arrested Sushil (27), Amit (25) and Amit, alias Sanju (20). TNS

Mohali: National Oral Hygeine Day was celebrated by the department of periodontics, Desh Bhagat Dental College, Desh Bhagat University, on Monday.
