Man gets life term in rape & murder case
Fast Track Special Court Judge Dr Yashika has sentenced a person to life imprisonment (for remainder of natural life) in a rape and murder case of a girl of Palsora village in Chandigarh.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.6 lakh on the convict. A case was registered after the body of the girl was found in a gunny bag dumped in a forest area in November 2013. The court had already sentenced three persons, including a woman, to life in 2015. The fourth accused was declared proclaimed offender in 2015 and was arrested early this year.
Mohali resident awarded life term for rape
A video made by the accused while raping a woman to blackmail her proved a convincing proof against him.
On the basis of the video footage and other evidence, Fast Track Special Court Judge Dr Yashika convicted and sentenced Harish Dhuli, a resident of Mohali district, to life imprisonment in a rape case registered three years ago. The victim, who belongs to Himachal, in her complaint to the police had said she had done post graduation and was looking for a job. She said she came in contact with Harish Dhuli to get a driving licence.
Dhuli took her to his room where he raped her and threatened to kill her and harm her family members if she narrated the incident to anyone. On the basis of the statement of the complainant, an FIR was registered. The court sentenced the accused to imprisonment for life and imposed a fine of Rs 1.1 lakh.
