Mohali, June 12
Instead of making false statements for political mileage, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) should take guidance from Punjab in the field of education and health, Kuljit Singh Bedi, senior Congress leader and Deputy Mayor of the Mohali Municipal Corporation said here today.
Bedi said during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic people from Delhi rushed to Punjab for treatment. “AAP-led Delhi Government should learn from Punjab,” he said.
“They also need guidance from Punjab in the field of education,” Bedi added.
He attributed the progress made in the fields of health and education in the state to the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
“Today Punjab is No. 1 in both the areas. This was possible only due to the farsightedness of the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh,” he said.
Bedi also said the personal interest and diligent efforts made by Mohali MLA and Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu had put the city on path of progress.
Taking a dig at the Akalis, which has joined hands with the BSP for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state, Bedi said: “In their 10-year tenure, Akalis did nothing in the field of education and health, due to which the situation had deteriorated in Punjab.”
“The infrastructure for both the sectors has been strengthened during the Congress government,” he insisted.
Bedi further said Mohali was one of the cities in Punjab where tremendous work was being done in both education and health sectors.
He said a medical college was being set up in Mohali and classes had already started.
“A 300-bed hospital is also being set up here. An ultramodern Civil Hospital will be set up in the city,” Bedi informed.
