Chandigarh, September 1
Thousands of JEE (Main) aspirants today appeared for entrance test at five centres in Chandigarh. The aspirants reached the venues at 7.30 am, while the exam started at 9 am.
The exam was conducted as per the issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) and students were provided with masks and sanitisers. “Computer sets were sanitised and adequate arrangements were made to ensure social distancing inside the examination hall. Over 7,000 students appeared in both Chandigarh and Mohali centres,” said an official.
“The arrangements were good. Invigilators made sure about following SOPs and other protocols. There was a brief technical issue related to server, which was fixed well in time,” said Shristh Manchanda, a student. The exams are scheduled to be held from September 1 to 6 at various centres in two shifts on each day.
“NSUI has been asking the government to postpone the exam for the sake of students’ safety, but the government insisted on conducting these tests. We tried our best to provide transportation to the needy students. Leaders of other states such as Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have come forward to help the students, whereas city MP Kirron Kher remained absent in the hour of crisis,” said Manoj Lubana, NSUI social media chairman.
