The renovation and strengthening of the Jagatpura to Kandala-Airport Road began today.
Kulwant Singh, Member of the Punjab Legislative Assembl, SAS Nagar, on the occasion said that the road would be constructed by the Public Works Department of Punjab within the next three months.
Under the renovation and strengthening, 18mm paver blocks will be laid on 1.61 km of the broken part of the road. An amount of Rs 1 crore has been released by the Mandi Board for this work.
With the construction of the 18-foot (total 22-foot, including the kachcha sides) wide road, the residents of the area will benefit greatly in going to and from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh.
MLA Kulwant Singh said this project was a long-standing demand of the residents of the area and it was met today.
Addressing people on the occasion, he said despite the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) having not contested the recently held panchayat polls on its election symbol in Punjab, people elected their representatives without any conflict or dispute. He said this showed that people had full faith in the policies of the party. He said with this faith the development of the entire state would be taken forward and the credit for it would go to the people of the state.
He said development-orientated works were being given priority in villages without any biases or conflict, and the work of this road would also be completed within the stipulated time frame of three months.
Mohali DC Aashika Jain, Mohali SDM Damandeep Kaur, and PWD Executive Engineer Shivpreet Singh, among others, were present on the occasion
