Interschool meet: Sector 30 school boys lift handball title

Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School (GNKSSS), Sector 30, won the boys’ U-19 interschool handball tournament by recording an 11-4 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 16. Rinki scored seven goals, while Sanchi struck twice. Anmol and Tanu scored a goal each. Aman scored four goals for the Sector 16 team. The GMSSS, Sector 37, stood third.

The GMSSS, Sector 15, reached the semifinals of girls’ U-17 baseball tournament. The Sector 15 team recorded a 9-8 win over Carmel Convent School, Sector 9. In the second semifinal, the GMSSS, Sector 10, recorded a 10-0 win over Sacred Heart School, Sector 29.

In the girls’ U-19 semis, the GMSSS, Sector 27, ousted the Sector 15 government school team 9-8 and DAV School, Sector 8, recorded an 11-2 win over Carmel Convent.

In the girls’ U-17 football event, St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, defeated Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector 20, by a solitary goal. Babita scored the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute. The GMSSS, Dhanas, also recorded an identical 1-0 win over Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, as Khushi netted a goal in the 29th minute. Carmel Convent girls recorded a 3-0 win over the GMHS, Dhanas (I). Gaurai (5th), Aastha (7th) and Gitanshi (18th) scored a goal each. In the last match, the GMSSS, Sector 22, ousted the SGHSS, Sector 38, as Khushi (5th) and Ratika (10th) netted a goal each.

The girls’ U-19 kho kho team of GMSSS, Sector 8, defeated GMSSS, Sector 33, by 12 points. The GMSSS, Sector 28, went down against St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, by 12 points.

Meanwhile, the U-19 boys’ volleyball team of the GMSSS, Sector 26 (TM), defeated the GMSSS, Sector 35. The Sector 26 team posted a 25-6 25-7 victory over their rivals. Guru Nanak Public Khalsa School, Sector 30, recorded a 25-14 25-18 win over Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, and the GMSSS, Sector 16, defeated the GMSSS, Sector 32, 25-13 25-20. DAV School logged a 25-19 25-14 win over the GNPS, Sector 38.

In the girls’ U-19 category, the GMSSS, Sector 33, logged a 25-8 25-3 win over the GMSSS, Sector 23, whereas New Public School, Sector 18, defeated Shivalik School 25-23 25-19. The GNKSSS, Sector 30, recorded a stunning 21-25 25-20 25-17 victory over the GMSSS, Sector 38, and the GGMSSS, Sector 18, posted a 25-11 25-19 win over the GMSSS, Sector 32.

Vivek High girls win in squash

• In the girls' U-14 final of squash interschool tournament, Vivek High School, Sector 38, logged a 2-0 win over the GMHS, Sector 43. The GMHS, Sector 42, won the girls' U-19 event. The GMSSS, Sector 37, claimed the second position and Delhi Public School, Sector 40, finished third.
