In Mohali, Sundays only for second jab at government centres
Mohali, September 2
The Mohali Health Department has earmarked every Sunday only for the second dose of the Covid vaccine at all government vaccination centres across the district. The first dose will be given on all days except Sunday.
The Civil Surgeon, Dr Adarshpal Kaur, and the Covid vaccination nodal officer, Dr Vikrant Nagra, said the Punjab Government had recently issued instructions that the beneficiaries would be given only the second vaccine dose every Sunday.
They said a large number of people in the district were delaying the second dose. Therefore, Sunday had been earmarked only for the second dose. They said there was no shortage of vaccine in the district.
Dr Adarshpal Kaur said teachers of schools and colleges or other educational institutions would be given the second dose of Covishield after a period of 84 days.
She said the district administration had issued instructions to ensure vaccination of the teaching and non-teaching staff of all government and private schools, colleges, coaching centres or other educational institutions and students above 18 years of age by September 30. Parents of school and college students would also be encouraged to get vaccinated. — TNS
