In brief: Open chess meet on Dec 22

Chandigarh: A one-day Open Chess Championship ‘Chess Titans’ will be organised at GMADA Sports Complex, Sector 78, on December 22. The event will be organised in men’s and women’s categories Under-7, U-11, U-15 and Open formats. The event will be conducted under the supervision of FIDE Arbiter Nitin Rathore who represented India in the FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship in Greece last month. TNS

Chitkara varsity shuttler shines

Chandigarh: Asmit Agarwal, a student of Chitkara University, won two gold medals in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles at the West Bengal Senior State Ranking Badminton Tournament, in Kolkata.
