In Brief: Hookahs seized from Sec 9 club
Chandigarh: The police have seized 12 hookahs with tobacco from Cow Boy Club, Sector 9. Satbir Singh was arrested for being in possession of the hookahs without licence or permit. A case under Section 4(A), 27(A) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) has been registered at the Sector 3 police station. Satbir was later released on bail. TNS
House burgled in Sector 35
Chandigarh: Mahender Khurana of Sector 35 has reported that two unidentified persons stole clothes from his house. TNS
Two Arrested on theft charge
Chandigarh: The police have arrested two persons for stealing iron grills. Rishabh of Sector 49 reported that two grills were stolen from his storeroom. A case was been registered and two accused, Mohammed Inus and Anand, both residents of EWS Colony, were arrested. TNS
Classroom project launched
Chandigarh: The Indian Premier League franchise Punjab Kings in collaboration with Round Table India launched a Classroom project at the Government Primary School, Manakpur Sharif, SAS Nagar in Mohali. Punjab As part of the initiative, three classrooms will be refurbished and re-constructed with new tables and benches, along with new blackboards. The project will also install computer labs, sports facilities, and equipment, across the schools to provide means of advanced education. TNS
Ananya wins gold in weightlifting
Chandigarh: Weightlifter Ananya won medals in the Punjab State Junior and Senior Championships, at Gunachaur (SBS Nagar). She won the gold medal in the 87+ junior category, and a silver medal in the youth category. She has been selected to represent Punjab in the upcoming National Weightlifting Championship. She lifted a total of 160kg (75kg in snatch and 85kg in the clean and jerk). TNS
Hosts win T20 cricket match
Chandigarh: Devansh Sharma Cricket Academy defeated Himachal Cricket Academy by one run in the Devansh Sharma Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament. Batting first, DSCA posted 78/9 , while Himachal Cricket Academy scored 77/6. Anubhav claimed three wickets for the bowling side. In the second match, Jaswal Cricket Academy defeated Team Liberals Cricket team by nine wickets. In the third match, KBS Dec Samaj Cricket Academy defeated B-Team DCA by 22 runs. TNS
