In brief: Bankers' body elections
Chandigarh: The All India State Bank Officers’ Federation (AISBOF), representing officers of the State Bank of India (SBI) nationwide, announced the election of Rupam Roy as its new general secretary. The decision was unanimously made during the 6th Executive Committee Meeting held in Chandigarh. Roy assumed office on Monday. The meeting also saw the election of Arun Kumar Bishoyi as the new president of the federation.
Table tennis meet from December 14
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Table Tennis Players, Sector 23, will organise Virat Cup at the Sector 23 TT Hall from December 14 to 15. Events, including veterans (39+ and 49+) doubles, singles (39+,49+,59+ and 69+) and women singles (40+) will be organised during the tournament. Players interested in taking part in it can confirm their entries with Manuj Sharma, the cashier, by December 10.
Players picked for badminton nat’ls
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Badminton Association has picked the local sub-junior teams for the national championship to be held in Jammu. Ans Kumar Khare and Abhijay Anand will represent the boys’ team, while Avni Rai, Divnoor Kaur and Hargun Kaur will be playing in the girls’ team. Akash Sethi and Ram Monga have been appointed coaches of the team.
Chitkara pupil wins Taekwondo gold
Chandigarh: Aryan Hooda, a student of Chitkara University, won gold medal in the Haryana State Taekwondo Championship at Sirsa. Aryan, who is pursuing Bachelors of Physiotherapy, has earlier won many accolades at various national events.
Silver for U-19 badminton team
Chandigarh: The city under-19 badminton team won silver in the 68th National School Games. UT Education Department officials congratulated the local players.
