The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) organised a special lecture on ‘Public Speaking and Networking Skills’, with former IAS officer and renowned mentor Vivek Atray invited as the resource person. During the session, Atray emphasised the importance of speaking with panache and a clear purpose —urging attendees to communicate in a way that touched lives. The session was attended by the guest faculty, research scholars and more than 80 students from the department.

Panjab University, Chandigarh

The Department of Philosophy at the university organised two lectures by Prof Sachidananda Mohanty, member of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India, and current holder of the Sri Aurobindo Chair at the university. In the first lecture, he discussed the core ideas from Sri Aurobindo’s celebrated book ‘The Foundation of Indian Culture’, while in the second lecture on ‘Colonisation of the mind’, he spoke about the mental colonisation of Indian citizens and how the country gained political independence from the British. The event was attended by over 90 participants.

PEC, Chandigarh

The college observed a pledge taking ceremony to mark and celebrate the International Day of Older Persons in adherence to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi. Director Prof Rajesh Bhatia (ad interim), along with registrar Col RM Joshi, administered the pledge/oath to all employees and staff members of the institute outside the administrative block. The heads of departments as well as faculty and staff members also participated in the event.

SSIET, Mohali

A book on basic electrical and electronics engineering, authored by Dr SK Bhattacharya of the electrical engineering department of the institute was released on Monday. Bhattacharya, who is the former director of NITTTR in Chandigarh and Kolkata, has written over 100 research papers and 15 textbooks. The book has been written as per the Indian syllabus of the first-year engineering degree programmes.

CGC, Mohali

The group organised a ‘Venture nest vault’ under the auspices of Business Incubator Association to foster innovative thinking and forward-looking business planning among youth. The objective of the initiative was to provide a successful platform to the talented students to launch new startups. A funding target of Rs 12 crore was set by the investors for the respective startups.

Aryans Group of Colleges, Mohali

The group of colleges organised a cultural evening that witnessed the presence of renowned Bollywood and Punjab singers. Students and alumni participated in several events. Anshu Kataria, chairman of Aryans Group, honoured the achievers during this fest.

Dev Samaj College, Chandigarh

In line with the commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the NSS unit of the college organised an interactive seminar on 'Gender equality for a better future' in collaboration with peace club and Yuvsatta. The seminar was aimed at highlighting the importance of gender equality as a fundamental human right and cornerstone for a sustainable future.
