An accountant working at The Lalit, IT Park, has been arrested for cheating the hotel to the tune of Rs 24.28 lakh. He deposited the amount in his personal account, instead of the hotel’s account.
According to the police, the complainant, Imit Arora, General Manager, The Lalit, reported that Manish Dhiman, a resident of Pinjore in Haryana who was working as an accountant, misappropriated around Rs 24.28 lakh between April and December last year.
During the internal audit in December, it was found that there was a cash shortage. After thorough investigation, it came to light that Rs 27.12 lakh in cash was short. The suspect then returned Rs 1.80 lakh. A few vouchers of Rs 1.05 lakh, which were not further sent by him, were recovered. Thus, Rs 24.28 lakh was misappropriated by him.
It is alleged that Manish had deposited the money in his personal account on various dates.
A case under Section 408 (criminal breach of trust by clerk of servant) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against him at the IT Park police station.
