Hockey tourney from February 22 to 25

The 13th edition of All-India Hockey Tournament for Men and Women will be held at the Government Senior Secondary School ground, Amloh, in Fatehgarh Sahib district from February 22 to 25.

As many as 17 teams in the men’s section and six in the women’s category from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh will be vying for the top honours in the tournament, which is being organised in the memory of social activist Phul Chand Bansal with a message of ‘drug-free society’.

The winners in the men section will be given a cash prize of Rs 71,000, while the winners in the women group will get Rs 31,000 prize money.

MLA Gurinder Singh ‘Garry Birring’ will inaugurate the tournament and Amloh SDM Gurvinder Singh Johal will preside over the opening function. Deputy Commissioner Parneet Shergill and SSP Ravjot Grewal will be the chief guests at the prize distribution function.
