Prateek Rathee of Hisar overpowered a tough challenge by Aryan Rathee 15-4, 9-15, 15-12 to move ahead in the boys’ U-19 category during the opening day of the 57th Haryana State Junior & Senior Badminton Championship at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium.

Jaivardhan Hooda defeated Lavi Gupta 15-5, 15-7, while Harshit Chholak ousted Happy Bhardwaj 15-7, 15-5. Aryan Goyal also moved ahead by defeating Kartik Singh 15-6, 15-10 and Yash Kumar easily outplayed Deepanshu Nehra 15-2, 15-3. Chirag recorded a comeback 12-15, 15-14, 15-7 win over Anish Das and Mandeep defeated Mukul Joon 15-14, 15-6.

In the men’s qualifiers, Sparsh Sood defeated Manoj 15-14, 15-11; Akshay Kumar ousted Gagan Singh 15-9, 15-4 and Aryan Tushir defeated Dev 15-6, 15-13. Ankit won a see-saw battle against Pawan Prakash 14-15, 15-7, 15-6; while Amuk Tyagi from Sonipat easily defeated Sujith V Sasi 15-12, 15-5. Vedanshu Dahiya defeated Sumit 15-10, 15-9; Hardik outplayed Jaideep Malik 15-12, 15-11; Anuj Setia ousted Kanishk Singh 15-14, 15-7 and Pratham Jatain defeated Vibhor Mehandiratta 2-15, 15-8, 15-9.

Milan Gill of Hisar logged an easy 15-5 15-11 win over Gagan and Aayushman Bhowmick defeated Jaskirat Singh 15-3, 15-6. Vansh Sindhu also marched ahead by defeating Naveen Kumar 15-2, 15-8 and Aryan Srijwal defeated Rajat Kumar 15-8, 15-7. Gautam Walia defeated Vivan Chawla 15-6, 15-9 and Deepesh Sachdeva ousted Rishabh Singh 15-7, 15-14.
