In view of the Haryana Chief Minister’s swearing-in at Panchkula tomorrow, traffic will be diverted or restricted in the city.

The police said there will be traffic restrictions on the roads from Airport light point to Tribune Chowk, Tribune Chowk to the transport area traffic lights, and roads leading to the Dhillon barrier and to Matka Chowk from the transport area. These diversions will remain in effect between 11 am to 1 pm.

Traffic will be diverted or restricted on the Madhya Marg from the Dhillon barrier to the railway station light point, including the right turn towards the Kishangarh Chowk till The Lalit hotel between 2 pm and 2:30 pm.

There will be traffic restrictions from 5:15 pm to 6:16 pm and from 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm from on the stretch from The Lalit hotel towards the Kishangarh chowk, up to the Tribune Chowk, and further on the road leading to the airport light point.

UT declared no-flying zone

The city has been declared a “no flying zone” for drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).from October 16 to 18 keeping In view VVIP movement.

According to an order issued by District Magistrate Vinay Pratap Singh, in view of emerging threats due to trends of carrying out terrorist attacks by using drones fitted with improvised explosive devices by anti-national elements and keeping in view of the security of VVIPs and general public, it becomes imperative to declare the area of Chandigarh as a “no flying zone” for drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). “Under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the whole of Union Territory shall be ‘No-Flying Zone’ for the purpose of flying of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles from October 16 to 18,” he said.

The orders shall not be applicable to law enforcement agencies, including police, paramilitary, Air Force, SPG personnel and persons authorised by a competent government authority.

Sector 46/47 road closed for pipeline work

Chandigarh: The roads leading to the Sector 46/47 roads would be closed from October 18 to 28 from 10 am to 10 pm. The closure is required to facilitate the work to connect a water supply pipeline from the Sector 46/47 cycle track adjacent to Sector 47 from the Sector 46/47/31/32 roundabout up to the Sector 46/47 chowk. The Municipal Corporation authorities have requested the general public to take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
